Football is finally back! The Texas Tech Red Raiders kickoff the 2013 college football season against the Mustangs of SMU this Friday, Aug. 30 in Dallas, Texas. We’ll have more on the specific match-ups and a preview of the opponent later this week, but for now here’s the basics.
Tech begins its 89th season of football on ESPN this Friday against SMU, the only matchup between BCS-level opponents that particular night. The story of the night will undoubtely be former Red Raider Kliff Kingsbury, named head coach at the end of last season, returning home to coach his alma mater. The Texas Tech Sports Network has the radio call live across 33 affiliates in Texas and Eastern New Mexico. In Dallas, tune your radios to KFXR 1190 AM and KSKY 660 AM. You poor saps without TV or a ticket can listen to the dulcet tones of Brian Jensen (play-by-play), John Harris (analyst) and Chris Level (sideline) on the call from Ford Stadium.
Who: Texas Tech Red Raiders and Southern Methodist Mustangs.
What: A football game.
Where: Gerald J. Ford Stadium, Dallas, Texas.
When: Friday August 30 at 7:00 p.m. CST.
Last I heard the game was technically sold out, but SMU started selling lawn tickets for $20. Bring a blanket or some camping chairs and watch some football! Texas Tech Athletics officially called for a blackout, so I think that means this will practically be a home game for our boys in Scarlet and Black.
