Texas Tech vs. SFA: Bold Predictions

The Red Raiders vs. Lumbejacks showdown starts tomorrow night at 6:00 in Lubbock. Stay with us all the way up ’til kickoff for the latest updates and live information starting tomorrow.

Now, let’s get on with our week two prognostications. The greatest thing about college football is everyone trying to predict what will happen during the games, regular season and bowl games, and we here at Wreck ‘Em Red are no exception. This matchup shouldn’t prove too terribly interesting, but there’s always something to wager on.

Sold out stadium for Kliff’s first home game, true or false? (still several thousand tickets left)

Robert: False. However, I think it’ll be close, even if SFA makes it tough to draw a crowd.

Shelby: Almost true. I think we’ll be a few short.

Austin: False. There is no reason it shouldn’t be sold out for Kliff’s first game back in Lubbock but people seem to care more about the team on the visiting sideline than supporting our Red Raiders.

Over/under, 200 tortillas in the air during the first kickoff?

Robert: Over. Ticket sales may be down, but the students will come out strong. Tortillas will blot out the sun.

Shelby: Under. They check us for them now :(

Austin: Under, probably way under as people seem to have forgotten about this tradition.

Michael Brewer plays, yes or no?

Robert: Yes, but only a few snaps. Brewer’s back may not be 100 percent healed just yet, but this is the best opportunity to get him some reps.

Shelby: No.

Austin: I’m going to say no. I don’t think he starts and I don’t think you want to risk him aggravating an injury with the 2nd team OL.

Tech defense gets a turnover? Who gets it?

Robert: No. Until it happens, the odds are against them.

Shelby: Yes. Kerry Hyder or Will Smith.

Austin: This is the week it happens! Tech has one turnover since the TCU game last year, and that changes this week. SFA is a passing team, so I’m going with J.J. Gaines with an interception.

Final score?

Robert: Tech 48-16. I’d like 60, but I don’t think it’ll be necessary. Might even see the third-string in this one.

Shelby: Tech 50-14.

Austin: SFA couldn’t handle Weber State last week. That doesn’t bode well for them this week. Tech 56-21.
