Former Red Raiders in the Playoffs: Conference Championships

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

We’re down to the final four teams playing in the NFL. On Sunday, the teams will match up for the AFC and NFC championship games. No matter what happens, there will be at least one Red Raider in the Super Bowl, and it’s possible to have at least one guaranteed to win the Super Bowl, if the 49ers win the NFC. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s take a look at the former Red Raiders still playing.

Danny Amendola (WR – New England Patriots)
This weekend’s matchup: Denver Broncos
Game Time: Sunday, January 19, 2:00 p.m. CST
Amendola had three receptions for 77 yards in last week’s playoff game against the Colts.

Michael Crabtree (WR – San Francisco 49ers)
This weekend’s matchup: Seattle Seahawks
Game Time: Sunday, January 19, 5:30 p.m. CST
Crabtree had three receptions for 26 yards in last week’s playoff game against the Panthers.

Manny Ramirez (OL – Denver Broncos)
This weekend’s matchup: New England Patriots
Game Time: Sunday, January 19, 2:00 p.m. CST
Ramirez was part of an offensive line that helped the Broncos get double the number of first downs last week.

Louis Vasquez (OL – Denver Broncos)
This weekend’s matchup: New England Patriots
Game Time: Sunday, January 19, 2:00 p.m. CST
Vasquez was a huge part of Denver’s strong offensive line that helped the Broncos amass 363 total offensive yards against the Chargers.

Wes Welker (WR – Denver Broncos)
This weekend’s matchup: New England Patriots
Game Time: Sunday, January 12, 2:00 p.m. CST
Welker had six receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers last week.

Series info:
The Broncos lead the series against the Patriots 27-20, but haven’t won against them since 2009.
The 49ers vs. Seahawks series is a lot closer. And by that, I mean it’s tied 15-15. Both teams won their home matchup against each other this season.
