Former head coach Shannon Hays left the Texas Tech softball program back in May, and the Red Raiders have found their replacement in Adrian Gregory.
Adrian Gregory, a Texas native with Lubbock roots, has been named the seventh head softball coach at Texas Tech, athletics director Kirby Hocutt announced Friday.
Born in nearby Post, Texas, Gregory is familiar with the Texas Tech softball program she will now lead. Several of her family and friends are West Texas natives.
“I am excited to welcome Adrian Gregory to the Texas Tech family to lead our softball program,” Hocutt said. “Her energy, passion and familiarity with the state of Texas will provide the leadership to take our program forward. Adrian is a rising star and has been successful in every aspect of her softball career.”
“Kirby Hocutt continues to put his stamp on the athletics program with his leadership and direction,” said Tech President M. Duane Nellis, Ph.D. “Adrian Gregory received high praise from her colleagues around the country during the search and I am excited for the future of the softball program. Kirby has put together a highly talented assembly of coaches, who continue to represent the university positively across the country. The future of Texas Tech Athletics is exciting.”
Gregory arrives at Texas Tech after spending the past four seasons as an assistant coach at Sam Houston State where she helped develop the Bearkats into one of the top offensive teams in the country.
