We continue our series looking at the most important players projected to suit up for Texas Tech this season. This is not a list of the most talented players, but rather a breakdown of which guys stand to make the most impact either by their presence or absence.
No. 8: offensive tackle Rashad Fortenberry
The third offensive lineman on this list, junior college transfer Rashad Fortenberry will be one of the leaders on Tech’s 2014 offensive line. This line will be responsible for protecting the Red Raiders only experienced quarterback, Davis Webb.
6-foot-5, 285-pound senior Fortenberry started all 13 games last year, saving his best performance for the 2013 Holiday Bowl where the Red Raiders offensive line allowed zero sacks.
After the end of the 2013 season, Fortenberry was granted a medical red shirt for the 2012 season in which he missed most of the season with a back injury.
With one more year to play, Fortenberry will be looked at as an anchor on the Red Raiders offensive line and will be the starting right tackle. If Fortenberry and Le’Raven Clark can step up and make the offensive line a strong point in 2014, Texas Tech’s offense could really thrive.
