Weekly Recruiting Roundup (08/03-08/12)

Current Commits:

QB- Jarrett Stidham: Stidham is preparing for his senior season at Stephenville High School. has a preview of the Yellowjackets 2014 season, including a bit about Stidham.

After less than a week of practice, the annual Blue and Gold Scrimmage allows local fans a first look at the 2014 version of the Jackets, including highly touted senior quarterback Jarrett Stidham, sophomore running back sensation Kaegun Williams and defensive standout Cameron Reynolds.

Stidham, a legitimate dual-threat QB who has committed to Texas Tech, paced the high-octane SHS offense a year ago. Stidham passed for more than 2,600 yards and 30 touchdowns, and rushed for more than 1,000 yards leading Stephenville to a 12-2 mark last season and an appearance in the Class 3A semifinals.

RB- Corey Dauphine: After reaffirming his commitment to the Red Raiders last month, Dauphine is still selected to go to Baylor in’s “crystal ball”.  Dauphine has said he’s strongly committed to Texas Tech, but that he will still be taking visits to other schools this Fall.
OL- Trace Ellison: For a full profile including photos and videos of the Frisco (Centennial) Texas offensive lineman, check out his MaxPreps profile here.
OL- Lio Lafaele: The 6-foot-4, 300-pound offensive tackle/guard hasn’t wavered on his commitment to the Red Raiders heading into his last season at Riverside College. Check out his Hudl page with last seasons highlights here.

ATH- Jonathan Giles: The versatile athlete out of Missouri City, Texas was named the CES Performance Athlete of the Month recently.

LB D’Vonta Hinton: According to, Hinton has nine division one offers, but the Red Raiders are in a league of their own when it comes to getting Hinton to their school. DT- Breiden Fehoko: One of the most talked about and highest rated defensive tackles in recent history, Fehoko is a program changer in the trenches. He recently tweeted a picture of him in a magazine, which named him as the best player in the state.

OL- Conner Dyer: Andrew Melnick of has a full recap of the four star offensive lineman’s commitment to the Red Raiders late last month.

OL- Madison Akamnonu- The fourth offensive lineman commit in the 2014 class, Akamnonu pledged to the Red Raiders earlier last week. The Arlington (Bowie) Texas offensive tackle chose Tech over Oklahoma and the Dallas Morning News has an article up detailing his decision.

Three Players To Watch:

DE- Jalen Bates- Its a pretty wide open race for the Kaplan, Louisiana native, but Texas Tech is sure in the thick of things. The weakside defensive end has set an official visit to Lubbock on September 13th when Tech takes on the Arkansas Razorbacks.

WR- Tyron Johnson- I wouldn’t expect a commitment anytime soon, but the talented wide receiver from New Orleans, Louisiana is high on Tech’s coaching staff. He’s listed as a “favorite” on

S- Christian Taylor- The Red Raiders were a bit late on their offer (May) to Taylor, but the safety out of Houston (Jersey Village) Texas seems to like Louisville and Texas Tech right now.
