Since Aug. 1 you’ve probably seen a lot of buzz around the internet about college colors day, which is Friday Aug. 29. In case you weren’t aware, it’s kind of big deal.
For the next day or so, you can support your university through the Spirit Cup competition, which is a points-based rivalry that uses social sharing to crown a champion.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1 – Earn points for your school by posting college-themed photos to Instagram and Twitter with #collegecolors and your college’s official hashtag (#WreckEm) between Aug. 1 and Aug. 28.
Step 2 – Earn 50 extra points per day by downloading the College Colors App and using it to share photos. Get the College Colors App here.
Step 3 – Check the Leaderboard often for your college’s ranking (Tech is currently in 5th place in the Big 12). Every share is a step towards winning a $10,000 donation to their scholarship fund.
The competition ends tomorrow, but college colors day is Friday and you don’t have to be in Lubbock on the Texas Tech campus to participate. In fact, they’ve got some pretty good ideas on their website for how you can paint your office or community in red and black. Not that you need an excuse to wear your school’s colors, but why not go the extra mile on Friday?
So bear our banners far and wide, Red Raiders, and use #WreckEm whenever you can.
Oh, and you can also enter to win an all-inclusive trip to the inaugural College Football Playoff here, which sounds pretty awesome.
