Texas Tech Football making a play at 2018 dual-threat QB

Texas quarterback Jaelyn Nolan has been on the radar of several Big 12 schools lately, including that of of Texas Tech Football. And with good reason.

The dual-threat quarterback is starting this season for the Brownfield Cubs (Brownfield, Texas), and has seen interest from Kansas, Southern Methodist, Texas, and Texas Tech. Brownfield’s projected 2015 starter and star basketball player Sha’Colby Hill was arrested and indicted back in February in a pair of felony charges, which made starting a tangible goal for Nolan. It wasn’t an ideal situation for Brownfield High School, but it certainly paved the way to the starting role.

A four-star prospect, Nolan saw some serious action last season throwing for 1,812-yards for 13 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions, on top of 122 rushes for 1,065-yards and 18 rushing touchdowns.

He’s rated as the No. 6 dual-threat quarterback in the nation, and the No. 75 player overall according Nolan’s 247Sports page.

Nolan checks in at 6-foot-3, and 180-pounds, so he measures up well now, especially for his age. He’s headed into his sophomore year as a starter, and has plenty of time to add size and develop naturally. If he can stay healthy and continue on this path of accelerated growth, expect to see the offers triple (if not quadruple) by the start of his senior season.
