VIDEO: Zach Davis Steals Home to Tie Game vs Texas
By Robert Jones
It didn’t end the way Texas Tech wanted, with the Red Raiders falling 5-2 in 12 innings against Texas and the Longhorns winning the series two games to one. But boy, the Red Raiders sure made it interesting.
With two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the ninth and Tech trailing by one run, sophomore outfielder Zach Davis made the gutsiest play you’ll see all year in college baseball.
That run forced extra innings, but the Red Raiders couldn’t close out the Longhorns as Texas went on to score three runs in the 12th. Still, a brilliant effort by coach Tadlock and the Texas Tech baseball squad. In front of 3,992 fans at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park, the Red Raiders put on an absolute show headlined by Davis’ steal.
12,551 fans attend the three-game series, setting a new Rip Griffin Park three-game series attendance record. You can see the Red Raiders play next at the Rip on Tuesday, April 8 vs Abilene Christian. First pitch at 6:00 p.m.
