A look at the history between Texas Tech and Kansas State
Despite being one of the shorter rivalries between two Big 12 opponents, Texas Tech and Kansas State have plenty of history between the two schools. The very first Big 12 game featured the Red Raiders and Wildcats, and no Red Raider will ever forget the punishing hits that Dwayne Slay delivered to multiple Wildcats during his moment in time. Tech fans will also remember the now infamous I quit meme by former Red Raider QB Baker Mayfield who threw his 2nd interception of the game and simply stood and watched as Kansas State ran past him for the score. The Red Raiders will travel to the Little Apple for the 6th time in program history on Saturday night and although history hasn’t been kind to Texas Tech lately, maybe fortune is beginning to shift to the good guys side.
– Texas Tech and Kansas State will meet for the 15th time Saturday night. The Red Raiders hold a 8-6 advantage in the win column and has never trailed in the series between the two schools.
– Texas Tech has lost 3 straight games in the series, but maybe a bit of luck is on their side as Kansas State has never won more than 3 games in a row against Tech.
-The Red Raiders are 2-3 against the Wildcats in Manhattan and 6-3 against KSU in Lubbock.
-An interesting note, a Bill Snyder coached team is the only time the Wildcats have beaten Tech. Snyder is 6-1 against the Red Raiders.

– The longest winning streak in the series belongs to the Red Raiders, as they won 5 straight in the series from 2001-2009. Much of that success belongs to Mike Leach, who lost his first game in the series but went on to win every other game against Kansas State by an average score of 51-21.
-The most points Texas Tech has scored in the series came in a 66-14 stomping in Lubbock, Tx as then-backup Steven “Sticks” Sheffield started in place of Taylor Potts and lit up the Wildcats. The most points Kansas State has scored in the series came in a 2012 blowout by a final score of 55-24.
– Texas Tech has been ranked 4 times when they have met the Wildcats, and are 2-2 in those games. Kansas State has been ranked 6 times when they’ve met the Red Raiders and are 5-1 in those games.
