Making tackles in space and stopping the run were huge problems for Tech’s linebackers this year, just as it was last year, the year before and the year before that. It’s a trend that doesn’t appear likely to change next year unless Mike Mitchell turns out to be the world-beater he’s billed as.
That said, Sam Eguavoen, VJ Fehoko, Pete Robertson, Austin Stewart and Micah Awe were five of Tech’s top 10 tacklers this year. They also combined for 15 sacks, five forced fumbles and an interception. Sadly, only two of those guys come back next year.
