Jones Stadium is one of the oldest college football stadiums in America.

Built in 1947, Jones Stadium on the campus of Texas Tech is the 49th oldest college football stadium in the country, and the original seating capacity was 27,000 people.

In order to gain entrance into the Southwest Conference, Tech was required to upgrade all athletic facilities. So in 1959, Jones Stadium was expanded to 41,500 seats. Currently, the stadium holds 61,000 fans and features a 38×100 square foot High Definition video board.

The first team to visit Jones Stadium was Hardin-Simmons on November 29, 1947. In the past 66 seasons, the Red Raiders have gone 246-129-6 at home, which is good for a 64.5 winning percentage.

In 54 of the 66 seasons of football at Jones Stadium, the Red Raiders have at least a .500 record at home.
