X Wide Receiver

Starter: Dave Parks

At face value, Parks stats don’t warrant his inclusion on the all-time Texas Tech two-deep. But Parks was a trailblazer as one of the first star receivers in the modern era of college football. Parks set school records with 499 receiving yards in a season, 1,090 career yards and 80 career receptions all of which were outstanding numbers in his era.

Parks was a 1963 all-American and the No. 1 overall pick in the 1964 NFL Draft.

The Abilene native excelled in the pros leading the NFL in catches with 80, yards with 1,344 and 12 touchdowns in 1965. Parks was a three-time Pro Bowl selection during his 10-year NFL career.

Backup: Eric Ward

Ward is one of only two players in school history to rank in the top six in career receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He caught 255 passes for 2,863 yards and 31 touchdowns from 2010-13. The native of Wichita Falls, TX received all-Big 12 honors in three of his seasons at Texas Tech.
