Who are the top 50 Texas Tech football players of all time? Here is our list.

When Texas Tech faces LSU in the Texas Bowl tomorrow night, the program will complete it’s 91st season of college football.  Fifty-six of those seasons have been winning seasons and the program has a .561 overall winning percentage, the 53rd best winning percentage in the nation.

Over the 1,013 games the school has played thousands of young men have donned the scarlet and black to represent Texas Tech University.  Among that number have been 151 NFL Draft picks, 12 consensus all-Americans and five College Football Hall of Fame inductees.

Being a Red Raider is not for the faint of heart.  Nothing has ever been handed to Texas Tech scholastically, financially or athletically.  Unlike many schools it competes against, Texas Tech has had to scratch and claw for every dollar, every consideration and every ounce of respect it has ever received.

While we here at Wreck ‘Em Red wish we could honor every single person who has given an ounce of blood or sweat to our beloved Red Raiders, that is simply not logical.  So before we present our list of the top 50 player in Texas Tech football history, we take a moment to acknowledge all of those scout team members who took a beating every week in practice, the walk-on athletes who played football for free because they love the game and the school and the players whose names have long been forgotten by the masses, kept alive only by family and friends.  Thank you to all who have give us the gift that is Texas Tech football.

Now, we present our list of the 50 greatest players in Texas Tech history.
