No. 10 Kliff Kingsbury (Quarterback 1998-2002)

The first quarterback of the Mike Leach era, Kinsbury became the first Texas Tech football superstar since Byron Hanspard and he is 10th on our countdown of the 50 greatest players in school history.

After 2002 he held the NCAA records for career plays, career plays per game, single season and career passing attempts, single season and career passing completions, highest single game completion percentage, career lowest percentage of passes intercepted, and most single season and career games gaining 200 yards or more.

Now the Texas Tech head football coach, Kingsbury still ranks second in school history in passing yards, touchdown passes and total yards as well as 4th in single season passing yards. He is the only Texas Tech football player to return to be head coach of the Red Raiders meaning that twice he has been the face of the program.
