No. 44 Carlos Francis (Wide Receiver 2000 – 2003)

A pioneer of the Air Raid era checks in as the 44th greatest player in Texas Tech history. Carlos Francis’ game was built on sheer speed and he used that attribute to put up some terrific numbers.

He currently ranks 4th on the Tech career receiving yards list with 3,027 yards. His best game came during his freshman season against Utah State when he amassed 234 yards. Francis also ranks 8th on the career touchdown reception list with 21.

The Ft. Worth native was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 2004 where he played until 2007. Francis was also part of Tech’s track team as a sprinter who ran a 10.27 100-meter dash.

Francis was the first big-play receiver in the Mike Leach era. His strength was vertical routes and huge passing plays that often turned games in the Red Raiders’ favor.
