2016 Texas Tech targets to watch as signing day nears
The 2016 recruiting cycle is quickly coming to an end with National Signing Day just two weeks from today. In most years, the weeks leading up to the day when high school football players sign their official and binding letters of intent declaring where they will play college football are full of intrigue for Texas Tech fans.
But this year’s class has been put together for the most part since the summer of 2015. Refreshingly, there has been little drama with the players that have given a verbal commitment to play for Kliff Kingsbury and the Red Raiders.
However, there are still spots open for a few standouts to join this class. The following are some players that Texas Tech fans should keep an eye on because they are still Texas Tech targets and could give Red Raider fans a pleasant surprise on February 3rd.
Zach Farrar
3-star wide receiver, Southlake, TX
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound wide out just named Texas Tech as one of his top four choices earlier this week. (Link) He also has Oklahoma State, Mississippi State and Washington in his final four.
Farrar is scheduled to visit Lubbock this weekend along with the majority of the 2016 verbal commits so there will be plenty of chances for him to build bonds that could seal the deal. He was in Mississippi last weekend to see what the Bulldogs have to offer and he may visit Oklahoma State the weekend prior to signing day.
Given its proximity to his hometown, the offense it runs and the fact that it has the best quarterback of Farrar’s suitors, Texas Tech seems to be in excellent shape to land this talented Metroplex receiver. However, keep an eye out for Oklahoma State to be a major consideration for Farrar as well.
