Texas Tech announced its inductees into the 2017 Hall of Fame, and Hall of Honor classes today.
Texas Tech traditions are special events, and this Fall, several players spanning multiple sports will be inducted into the coveted Hall of Fame, and Hall of Honor classes. With players whose current employment statuses range from active military, to administrative duties at Texas Tech, it’s important to address each one, and their accomplishments as Red Raiders.
The 2017 Hall of Fame class includes, Men’s Basketball player, Tony Battie; Men’s Baseball players, Andre Emmett, and Bobby Kohler; Track and Field star, Shereefa Lloyd; and Women’s Basketball player, Connie Robinson.
Tech’s solo Hall of Honor inductee is legendary former Lady Raiders’ Basketball coach, Marsha Sharp.

As noted in Rodney Allison’s live broadcast of today’s classes, the difference between “Hall of Fame, and “Hall of Honor” is that HOF inductees are typically former student-athletes, while Honor is for administrative personnel (coaches, etc…).
Per the press release by Tech Athletics, the Hall of Honor “recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the success of Texas Tech Athletics while displaying qualities of sportsmanship, character and integrity.”
Marsha Sharp becomes the forty-third inductee into the Hall of Honor, and as Allison said, “When your name is on a street sign, I think you’ve made it.”
