Texas Tech makes Hasaan Hypolite III’s list of Top 6 teams he’ll be choosing from in August, and he’s a player who could have a big impact on the Tech defense.
Hasaan Hypolite III certainly has a name to become a one-man hype machine, but the wide receiver/safety hybrid has a solid opportunity to make that happen at Texas Tech in 2018.
Hypolite took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to make his Top 6 official, where he listed Texas Tech, TCU, LSU, Houston, Colorado, and East Carolina. Hypolite noted that he’ll be making his decision on August 15.
According to an April 2016 article on Nola.com, Hypolite’s uncle, Mark Roman, was a former LSU and NFL defensive back in the 1990s. This could be a situation where Texas Tech calls in the big guns when Dead Period expires on July 7, however, considering Hypolite is from Missouri City, Texas, expect Houston to recruit hard, too.
The Hightower H.S. senior is listed on Scout.com as 5-foot-11, and 190 pounds.

In the article, Hypolite said that attending LSU was his “childhood dream,” but a lot can happen in the recruiting process.
While he’s listed as an athlete, Hypolite mentioned, “I’m not one of those receivers that’s scared of contact. I actually like contact. I like to jam. I like to go up and make those competitive catches.”
This could be particularly beneficial for Texas Tech should he choose Tech on August 15, because with all the receivers who are drawn to Kingsbury’s Air Raid style, it’s always been perplexing why its secondary can’t dominate opposing similar offenses.
If Hasaan Hypolite ends up as a Texas Tech safety, that fearless mentality might become one of Tech’s most lethal weapons in the backfield.
He has a naturally intimidating presence on the field, and demonstrates explosiveness, all while keeping his eye on the rock.
Here are some highlights (and yes, he could switch to linebacker):
Hypolite made the standard announcement, but it was the retweets, and one particular response from a recent Tech commit that could be a measure of how badly team mates want him in Lubbock:
Hope you join the brotherhood✊🏿🔴⚫️

Two-star defensive back Mekhi Garner committed earlier this month, but as we know with recruiting, sometimes players who are fans of each other can be the biggest recruiting weapons.
Clearly Garner can see a very disruptive future if Hasaan Hypolite ends up as a Red Raider.
