The Texas Tech football coaching staff is hard at work putting together the 2019 recruiting class.  Here are some of the most recent players to receive offers from the Red Raiders.

The addition of the early signing period allowing high school football players to officially ink with teams in mid December appears to have significantly altered the recruiting cycle calendar.  No longer do teams wait for the summer workout and satellite camp portion of the recruiting process to take place before handing out scholarship offers en masse.  Now, there appears to be a race to offer top players as early on in the process as possible and for that reason, Texas Tech has extended scholarship offers to several players in recent days.

Gabriel Hall – DT Waller, Texas

Friday, Gabriel Hall, tweeted that he had received his 11th offer in the form of an invitation from Texas Tech.  Hall is a 6-foot-5, 280-pound three-star prospect that would be a great addition to the Texas Tech defensive line.

Currently, he is rated as the No. 72 overall player in Texas and No. 45 defensive tackle in the nation by 247Sports.com.  Hall has offers from Baylor, Houston, Nebraska, Ole Miss, SMU, TCU and Utah among others.

Hall is a multi-sport star qualifying for state in the shot put this year.  But it is on the gridiron where he is most coveted.

Some schools are actually recruiting him as an offensive lineman despite the fact that he’s been participating in recruiting events like “The Opening” as a DT.  Texas Tech has far more depth on the offensive line than the defensive line so one can surmise that the Red Raiders want him to stay at DT.

Zach Zimos – OLB Richmond, Texas

Texas Tech is hoping to persuade Richmond, Texas LB Zach Zimos to stay home in Texas despite the fact that he is currently committed to Cal.  The 6-foot-4, 205-pound three-star prospect committed to the Bears in late April.

In addition to Texas Tech and Cal, Zimos has offers from Boise State, Houston, SMU, UTEP, Tulsa and Colorado.  Playing at safety last year, Zimos was all over the field.  He recorded 56 tackles, two picks, a sack, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble in 2017.

Those skills suggest that Zimos would project to an outside LB position in college capable of covering receivers at times while rushing the passer in certain situations. College football recruiting is far more geographically driven than the other college spots so it will be interesting to see if he sticks with Cal now that a number of Texas schools are showing him some interest.

Tony Bradford Jr. – DE Houston, Texas

Another defensive line target is Tony Bradford Jr. from Houston.  The 6-foot, 239-pound three-star prospect picked up an offer from Texas Tech Friday.

He is rated as the No. 191 player in Texas and the No. 86 weak-side defensive end in the nation.  In addition to Texas Tech, Bradford holds offers from Arizona, East Carolina, Memphis, Rice, UT-SA, Wyoming and Houston among others.

247Sports lists Bradford as a Texas prospect who is seeing his stock soar in recent weeks so more offers are likely headed his way.

Ty DeArman – ATH Arlington, Texas

Looking to continue the tradition of excellence at the wide receiver position, Texas Tech has offered Arlington, Texas receiver/safety Ty DeArman.  The 6-foot, 190-pounder is a three-star prospect ranked as the No. 110 player in Texas.

Because of his versatility, DeArman has received over 21 offers thus far.  Some notable programs to offer him include Arizona State, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Colorado State, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, SMU and San Diego State.

This coach’s son was as versatile as they come for Bowie High School last season.  He averaged per 5.2 yards per carry as a running back, caught close to 20 passes as a receiver, recorded over 40 tackles at safety and even returned kicks.

This is the type of player that would seem to make a perfect inside receiver at Texas Tech.

Enoch Jackson – DT Mansfield, Texas

Another big-time target on the defensive line is Enoch Jackson.  The 6-foot, 290-pound three-star prospect is the No. 85 player in Texas and the No. 49 defensive tackle in the nation.

Jackson has an impressive offer list that includes Arkansas, Florida, Houston, Iowa, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Purdue among others.   One team to keep an eye on is Oklahoma State as Jackson lived in Stillwater prior to moving to Mansfield.

Jackson is a disruptive player that uses his compact frame to explode past blockers and get to the quarterback.  He resembles the new wave of NFL defensive tackles like Fletcher Cox and Aaron Donald who are changing the game by turning the DT position into a prime pass-rushing position.
