Tonight, Zhaire Smith is expected to be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft.  Here is a look at some of the more likely destinations for the Texas Tech basketball great.

When Shaire Smith committed to Texas Tech in April of 2017, the news hardly made ripples outside of Lubbock.  But just over a year later, he is set to be one of the most intriguing stories in the 2018 NBA Draft.

When Smith is taken sometime in tonight’s first round, he will become the first Texas Tech basketball player in the history of the program to be a one-and-done draftee in the NBA Draft.  What’s more, he will be the first Red Raider drafted since Andre Emmett was taken in the second round of the 2004 draft by the Seattle Supersonics.

This will mark a potential stepping stone in the evolution of the Texas Tech basketball program under Chris Beard as the Red Raider head coach can now sell recruits on his ability to put players in the NBA.  Already, there appears to be more potential NBA draftees on the Texas Tech roster (Jarrett Culver, Khavon Moore and Matt Mooney for starters) but Texas Tech fans are hoping that Zhaire Smith becomes the first NBA superstar produced by the program.

But in order for Smith to realize his full potential, he needs to land in the right situation.  Here are a few of the teams that might be the most likely to take a chance on the Red Raider phenom.
