The Texas Tech football team couldn’t come up with enough plays to beat Texas Saturday night but it was not for a lack of production from Nick McCann, Antoine Wesley and Jordyn Brooks.

Another moral victory at home against a ranked Big 12 rival is not sitting well with the Texas Tech football team and its fans.  But the Red Raiders should be commended for fighting back from a 17-point 4th quarter deficit to tie the game with under two minutes to play.

Though the Red Raiders could not keep the Longhorns out of the end zone on their final drive, they played one of their best quarters of football in the final period Saturday night.  Several players contributed in big ways, especially during the comeback.

T.J. Vasher had a fantastic two-yard touchdown reception to close the gap to 34-27.  It was part of a two-touchdown 87-yard night for the talented sophomore.

Seth Collins tied his Texas Tech career-high with five receptions.  He had a big 14-yard catch and a 10-yard run helping to move the chains during the comeback attempt.

Defensively, Kolin Hill, Lonzell Gillmore and Broderick Washington recorded three of Texas Tech’s five sacks.  Tony Jones and Eli Howard were also very active with each registering six tackles and Jah’Shawn Johnson had eight tackles in his final home game.

And the work of kicker Clayton Hatfield must not be forgotten.  The senior hit two field goals and perfectly executed an onside kick when he kicked a line drive right at a Longhorn on the front line of the return team.

But three Red Raiders stood out in the loss.  Nick McCann, Antoine Wesley and Jordyn Brooks were stars Saturday and are deserving of game balls.
