The 2018 NFL regular season has come to a close so let’s take a look at how some of our Texas Tech football alums performed on Sundays this year.

2018 was an unprecedented year for Texas Tech alums in the NFL.  There is a possibility that Tech alums could be named both MVP and Coach of the Year as Pat Mahomes and Anthony Lynn have been two of the biggest stories of the season.

Overall, there were 21 Red Raiders in NFL training camps to begin the season.  Unfortunately, not all were able to earn roster spots or stay on an active roster for the entire season.

Tight end Jace Amaro made the Kansas City roster out of camp but was released in September.  Meanwhile, QB Nic Shimonek spent time on the Washington Redskins’ practice squad as did Pete Robertson while David Webb was on the New York Jet’s practice squad after being cut by the Giants in training camp.

Former running back Justin Stockton was signed off of the Seattle practice squad to the Detroit Lions’ roster in mid December.  Another player that spent time with Seattle is defensive end Branden Jackson who was with the Seahawks for nine games this year but is not on their playoff roster.

Former receiver Derrick Willies caught five passes for the Cleveland Browns as a member of the active roster for five weeks. Meanwhile, Dylan Cantrell spent the season with the Los Angeles Chargers as a practice squad member for much of the season failing to appear in a game despite being placed on the active roster late in the season.

Cam Batson is another Red Raider receiver who made an NFL roster catching 8 passes for 82 yards for the Tennessee Titans this year.  Meanwhile, Bradley Marquez appeared in one game for the Detroit Lions.  And DeAndre Washington rushed for 115 yards on 30 carries in his his third year with the Oakland Raiders.

But while those Red Raiders continue to try survive on the fringes of the league, plenty of others were key pieces for their teams this year.  Let’s take a look at some of the more successful NFL seasons from Texas Tech football alums this year.
