2019 Texas Tech basketball signee Jahmius Ramsey has been selected to participate in the Allen Iverson Classic, a prestigious high school all-star event.

It looks like Texas Tech basketball fans will not have to wait until next fall to see 4-star 2019 signee Jahmius Ramsey on the court after all.  After being snubbed by the McDonald’s All-American game, the highest-rated player to ever sign with Texas Tech has been invited to participate in an up and coming high school all-star event, the Allen Iverson Classic..

Spearheaded by the former NBA All-Star and basketball hall of fame inductee, the Iverson Classic has quickly become a showcase event featuring some of the top talent in the nation since its inaugural game in 2017.  Last year, the game featured prospects such as Shareef O’Neal (son of NBA legend Shaq O’Neal) and USC 5-star signee Kevin Porter Jr.

And this year, such stars as, Anthony Edwards (No. 2 overall player in the class of 2019),  Cole Anthony (No. 4), Khalil Whitney (No. 7 overall), Nico Mannion (No. 10 overall) and Keion Brooks (No. 23 overall) among others.  As for Ramsey, he is currently the No. 30 overall prospect in the class of 2019 according to 247Sports.com.

As the third-highest ranked 4-star prospect in the nation, Ramsey is easily the most exciting high school player to ever capture the imagination of Texas Tech fans.  The 6-foot-4 guard is averaging 18.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game this year for Duncanville High School and has become known for his jaw-dropping in-game dunks.

Ramsey scored 17 points in Monday night’s first round playoff game to help the No. 1 team in the state hold off an upset bid from Waxahachie in a 64-61 game that ended with Waxahachie missing the 3-pointers in the final seconds.  In that game, he was an impressive 11-12 from the free throw line and scored 15 of his points in the second half to help his team advance.

Next season, he is expected to be a huge part of the Texas Tech basketball program and will likely start for a team expected to lose all but one starter from this season.  He will be joined by a talented group of signees including Kevin McCullar Jr. (the No. 16 player in Texas), JUCO preseason player of the year Khalid Thomas, 6-foot-9 Russian forward Andrei Savrasov and 7-foot center Russell Tchewa.
