Wednesday, 2019 guard Clarence Nadolny released his top-three schools and the Texas Tech basketball program made the cut along with two other Big 12 rivals.

Thanks to back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances, the Texas Tech basketball program has gained quite a bit of attention.  And hopefully, that will translate to continued success on the recruiting trail where Chris Beard has already landed the best recruiting class in program history.

Now, another key 2019 recruit is entertaining the idea of becoming a Red Raider.   Wednesday, 3-star guard Clarence Nadolny listed Texas Tech as one of his top three schools along with Iowa State and West Virginia meaning that he intends to play in the Big 12 next season.  He also reportedly holds offers from such schools as Arkansas, Boston College, Georgetown, Ole Miss, Rutgers, TCU and others.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound native of France has been playing his high school basketball at Scotland Performance Institute in Pennsylvania this year.  And if he decides to call West Texas home next season, he would join a loaded recruiting class.

Texas Tech’s 2019 class currently features an elite group of guards including two of the top 100 prospects in the nation.  The headliner is 6-foot-5 guard Jahmius Ramsey from Duncanville, Texas. Rated the No. 32 overall player in the nation by Rivals, he is the highest-rated player to ever sign with Texas Tech and is fresh off a class 6-A state championship run.

Meanwhile, 6-foot-7 wing Terrence Shannon Jr. from Chicago verbally committed to the Red Raiders just over two weeks ago.  The explosive athlete is rated the No. 57 player in the class of 2019 by Rivals.

Currently, Tech’s recruiting class is ranked No. 14 in the nation by both Rivals and 247Sports edging out Oklahoma (No. 15 overall) for the best class in the Big 12.  And that does not take into account 3-star combo guard Kevin McCullar Jr. from San Antonio who was technically a 2018 signee but is for all intents and purposes a 2019 recruit.  Skipping his senior season of high school basketball to enroll at Tech in January, McCullar will be a huge part of what the Red Raiders do next season after redshirting this year to workout with the Red Raiders and get stronger in Tech’s strength and conditioning program.

It will be interesting to see what Chris Beard dos next year with his wings.  Losing players such as Jarrett Culver, Matt Mooney and Brandone Francis will mean that a number of newcomers will have to play important roles.  And that is perhaps the biggest reason that Beard is trying to land Nadolny.  If the Red Raiders can bring in this talented international player, they will have perhaps the best young collection of guards and wings in the Big 12, if not the country.
