This weekend, the Texas Tech baseball team was able to sweep through the Lubbock Regional thanks to some heroic efforts from Cameron Warren, Micah Dallas, Bryce Bonnin, Tanner O’Tremba and Taylor Floyd.

The Texas Tech baseball team has advanced to the Super Regional round of the NCAA tournament after going undefeated this weekend.  In outscoring Army and Dallas Baptist 17-4 in three games, the Red Raiders are headed to the Supers in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.

But what made this weekend’s action rather unusual was that the Red Raiders did not benefit from huge days from some of their best players. In fact, many of the team’s most dangerous weapons had little impact in the regional.

While All-American Josh Jung hit .500 going 5-10 at the plate, he did not have an RBI all weekend. Receiving no RBI from the team’s second-leading run producer is far from ideal but this weekend, it did not prevent the Red Raiders from advancing to the college baseball equivalent of the Sweet 16.

Meanwhile, Tech’s third-leading RBI man, Brien Klein was even less of a factor.  Going just 2-12 at the plate, the second baseman hit just .167 after hitting .317 for the season.

And even the team’s spark plug, Gabe Holt was rather quiet.  Going just 3-10 at the plate, he was far from ineffective and he scored three runs but he was not his usually pesky self as the team leader in stolen bases with 28 swiped only one over the weekend.

But fortunately, there were a number of Red Raiders that came up huge for Tim Tadlock’s team.  Let’s take a closer look at the heroes from Tech’s win in the Lubbock regional.
