Texas Tech football all-decade team: The receivers
Outside receiver: Darrin Moore
Perhaps the toughest decision when putting together our all-decade team came down to whether Darrin Moore or Antoine Wesley deserved to make the cut. Ultimately, I went with Moore because he was a multi-year starter whereas Wesley had only one season of productivity.

A JUCO signee in 2010, the Irving, Texas native caught 154 passes for 1,720 yards and 22 touchdowns in three years with the Red Raiders. That included 92 for 1,032 and 13 in 2012.
At 6-foot-4, he was a deadly weapon in the red zone where he was adept at going up over defenders to wrestle the ball away. That was one reason he was fifth in the nation in receiving touchdowns in his senior season.
But that senior season almost never happened. In April of 2012, Moore was arrested for DWI leading to his suspension from the team.
Ultimately, he was reinstated after accepting a pretrial diversion. Thankfully, he was able to make it back in time for the team’s season opener and kick off what would be his best season at Tech.
As a junior, Moore was solid with 47 catches for 571 yards and 8 TDs in nine games. That second season of productivity ultimately pushed him ahead of Wesley.
In fact, were we picking a team to actually play a mythical game with, I’d likely select Wesley over Moore because of his big-play potential. But when looking at who best deserves to be on the all-decade team, Moore is the choice because he had multiple years of success as a Red Raider.
