20 points vs. Baylor

In just his second Big 12 game ever, Ramsey had to try to solve one of the nation’s top defensive teams, Baylor.  Despite being the focus of the Bears’ defensive efforts, Ramsey was able to put up 20 points on 7-17 shooting in a 57-52 loss.

Being checked most of the night by 6-foot-9 defensive ace Freddie Gillespie, Ramsey still managed to go 5-10 from 3-point range.  And his hot shooting helped keep his team in the game.

That’s because in that game, Kyler Edwards and Davide Moretti managed to go a combined 2-12 from deep while scoring just 18 points between them.  What’s more, the other two starters that night, Holyfield and Terrance Shannon Jr. put up just nine points combined.

Thus, Ramsey had to essentially carry the load by himself.  In fact, from the 10:05 mark of the second half to the 3:30 mark, four Ramsey 3-pointers were all the offense Tech could muster.

Still, there was a chance for the Red Raiders to win this game in the closing minutes.  But unfortunately, Tech couldn’t make the plays down the stretch, which was the story of 2019-20.

This season, Baylor was 7th in the nation in scoring defense by allowing just 60.1 points per game.  Thus, the fact that Ramsey scored nearly a third of that total the first time he faced the Bears was impressive.  And that game, one in which he scored 38% of his team’s points, was the second-best game of his season.
