NO. 9: Danny Amendola 2007

Our first “Air Raid” entrant is Danny Amendola, who ended his Red Raider career in 2007 with his best season at the college level.  After never putting up more than 487 yards in his first three seasons, The Woodlands native exploded for 1,245 yards on 109 catches as a senior.

That reception total is the second-most in program history for one season behind a guy that we will discuss momentarily.  But somehow, he earned only honorable-mention All-Big 12 honors.

With ten games of at least 70 yards, the inside receiver was consistent.  That included three hundred-yard games.

But his best outing was a monster 233-yard game against Oklahoma State in a wild shootout loss.  That day, he averaged 16.6 yards per catch and he hauled in a TD.  That game is No. 9 all-time for most receiving yards by a Red Raider.

Unfortunately for Amendola, another player on this list (Michael Crabtree) totally overshadowed his output from 2007.  What’s more, he found the endzone just six times, which is not much compared to others we will discuss shortly.  But his breakout year is still good for No. 9 all-time in Tech history.
