A passer rating of 175 or higher

To get a true understanding of how well a QB plays, football fans look at his passer rating (also know as pass efficiency rating).  That statistical category takes into account completions, yards, TDs, and interceptions to give a holistic look at a QB’s performance.

So far in 2020, Kansas State is allowing opposing QBs to put up an average passer rating of 173.3.  That’s the worst in the Big 12.

Thus, Alan Bowman should strive to have a rating of 175 or higher.  To put that in perspective, know that Oklahoma had the best passer rating in the conference in 2019 at 187.0.  Thus, 175 is certainly attainable for a game but it would be the best performance of Bowman’s season thus far.

Interceptions have prevented him from putting up a tremendous passer rating.  He’s been picked off four times this year, which dropped his rating.  Right now, he sits at No. 6 in the league at 142.3 despite leading the league with 380.5 yards per game through the air, and being third in TD passes with seven.

The Kansas State secondary has been absolutely decimated by injuries and COVID-19 and they again expect to be somewhat shorthanded this weekend.  Still, they did manage to pick off OU’s Spencer Rattler four times last weekend and the KSU defense leads the Big 12 with six interceptions.

If Bowman can keep from throwing the ball to the guys in purple, he should have a huge day.  And if his passer rating is at 175 or better, Tech will likely be victorious.
