No. 8: Baylor

A year after going to the Big 12 title game, Baylor has already matched last year’s regular-season loss total of one.  What’s more, this year’s loss came to a West Virginia team that won only four games in 2019.

After having their non-conference game with Houston wiped out by COVID-19 positives, the Bears have played only two games this year.  What’s more, their only win so far came against Kansas, which has the look of a winless team.

Now, Baylor is coming off of a loss to West Virginia in which they scored only 14 points in regulation in a 27-21 OT contest.  In that game, Baylor was 4-16 on 3rd down and was penalized 12 times.

Baylor has also struggled along the offensive line.  Against West Virginia, the Bears ran for just 27 yards while QB Charlie Brewer was sacked six times.

This week, head coach Dave Aranda has plenty to fix during his team’s bye week.  What’s more, when his team returns to the field, they will have a meeting with No. 10 Oklahoma State.

After an improbable run to the conference title game in 2019, Baylor suffered massive departures including the loss of nine starters on defense.  Early in 2020, it appears that those losses are taking their toll.
