Texas Tech football: Big 12 power rankings after two conference games
No. 2: Iowa State
The Cyclones check in at No. 2 after taking down Oklahoma in Ames for the first time since the 1960s on Saturday night. And had they not dropped the season opener to Louisiana, they’d probably be atop this list.
In beating TCU and OU to bring the conference slate, the Cyclones have secured the best tandem of victories in the league this year. Now, they figure to move to 3-0 against Tech before a showdown with Oklahoma State on October 24.
The Cyclones have become more than just a defensive-oriented team in 2020. In fact, they have one of the most potent offenses in the conference thus far.
Averaging 37 points per game, they are tied for 3rd in the conference in scoring in Big 12 games. What’s more, running back Breece Hall leads the league in rushing yards at 132 per game. That’s why the Red Raiders will have their hands full this weekend.
The Cyclones have won four-straight games in the series with the Red Raiders and that streak includes three double-digit victories. Thus, it doesn’t seem likely that they will fall from their spot at No. 2 on Saturday.
