Clamp down on Agbaji

Another maddening fact about Tech’s loss to Kansas in December is that the Red Riaders lost a game in which only one member of the opposing team scored over 10 points.  The problem was that lone player, Ochai Agbaji, had a huge game.

Tech allowed the KU guard to shoot 8-11 from the floor and 4-7 from 3-point range on his way to 23 points.  To this date, that stands as his season high in scoring.  In fact, it is his only 20-point game this year.

The good news is that the guard from Kansas City doesn’t have a history of going off against the Red Raiders.  Rather, outside of December’s game, the most he’s scored against Tech in a single game is 12 points.

But this year, Agbaji has become a more consistent scorer than in years past.  He’s hit double-digits in 19 of 23 games and he’s gone for at least 16 points nine times.

Today, Tech can’t allow Agbaji to have the same type of offensive impact that he had in game one.  He scored 39.6% of his team’s points and if he comes close to that again today, it will be tough for the Red Raiders to come out on top.
