Shannon has to have more than 2 points

Tech isn’t going to beat Baylor without more than two points from Terrence Shannon Jr., the second-leading scorer on the team as was the case back in January.  And today, look for the sophomore to try to make a statement in a marquee game.

The simple truth is that Shannon may have an NBA decision to make after this season.  And if he has designs on improving his potential draft stock, he would be wise to play well today against one of the toughest defensive teams in the nation.

Back in January, the Chicago native shot only 1-7 from the field including 0-2 from 3-point range.  That performance has to be considered his worst of the season.

One of the reasons Shannon struggled that afternoon was because he didn’t get to the foul line as often as he typically does.  Going to the stripe just once, it was one of just five times this year that he’s failed to shoot at least two free throws.

In the last four games, Shannon has scored in double digits three times as he looks to be over the ankle issue that slowed him in the second half of February.  But the first time he faced Baylor, there was no injury that he could point to as the reason for his struggles.  It was simply one of his worst outings as a Red Raider (though some of that credit has to go to the Bears and their stout defense).  But today, let’s see if Shannon can flip the script and have a big day to help carry his team to a win.
