The NFL season gets underway this week and the scarlet and black will once again be well-represented.  A few Red Raiders have already built impressive resumes while others are looking to take the next or first step towards their ultimate goals. Here’s a rundown of all former Texas Tech players in the NFL for this season.

Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Cheifs

No doubt, Mahomes is the most famous Red Raider to hit the field this season. The former tenth overall pick is entering his sixth season as a Chief and fifth as a starter. Mahomes has quickly become one of the best players in the franchise’s history, leading the team to a victory in Super Bowl LIV while collecting the game’s MVP trophy. Entering 2022, Kansas City is expected to be a championship contender having come up short in last season’s AFC Championship. Mahomes will be looking to once again lead the Chiefs to the top of the NFL this year.

Jordyn Brooks, LB, Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are looking for a new leader at linebacker and the Red Raider appears to be their solution. Brooks is entering his third season in Seattle after being taken 27th overall in the 2020 draft. With Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright no longer on the roster, the defense will look to Brooks to become the new leader of a defense looking to recapture its past glory.
