The Texas Tech football team faces off with Oregon tonight in Lubbock at 6 PM Central. It will be just the third all-time meeting between the two schools.
In 1991, the Ducks prevailed in Lubbock 28-13. A year later, they would win in Eugene, 16-13.
Oregon is coached by Dan Lanning, a 37-year-old first-time NCAA head coach. Now in his second season with the program, he’s amassed an overall record of 11-3. Previously, the Missouri native was the defensive coordinator for the Georgia Bulldogs helping them win the 2021 National Championship.
Also in his second season as a college head coach, Texas Tech’s Joey McGuire has a career record of 8-6. That includes a mark of 6-1 at Jones Stadium.

- Texas Tech enters this weekend having won each of its last 23 home openers dating back to the start of the 2000 season. That is the longest streak in school history.
- Saturday’s game is the first in a home-and-home series between Texas Tech and Oregon as the two schools will also meet in Eugene early in the 2024 season.
- This will be the 15th meeting between Texas Tech and a power-five opponent during the non-conference slate since the Red Raiders joined the Big 12 in 1996. During that span, the Red Raiders are 4-11 overall with wins over Arizona State (2017), Arkansas (2015) and Ole Miss (2002-03).
