Folks, we have an NCAA softball tournament bracket. As Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech Red Raiders get set to try to return to Oklahoma City, we’ve got a chance to take a look at everything that they’ll have to face up ahead of them.
With the release of the 64-team field for the NCAA softball tournament, it’s important to remind folks how things work. The regionals will each have four teams in them and will be played at 16 different locations across the country. Those start May 15 and run through May 17 and will be double elimination mini tournaments of sorts.
Here’s the top 16 national seeds (and the hosts of the various different regionals) as we get set to start the 2026 NCAA softball tournament:
- Alabama Crimson Tide
- Texas Longhorns
- Oklhaoma Sooners
- Nebraska Cornhuskers
- Arkansas Razorbacks
- Florida Gators
- Tennessee Lady Vols
- UCLA Bruins
- Florida State Seminoles
- Georgia Bulldogs
- Texas Tech Red Raiders
- Duke Blue Devils
- Oklahoma State Cowgirls
- Oregon Ducks
- Texas A&M Aggies
- LSU Tigers
Here’s the first look at the 2026 NCAA softball tournament bracket (with the Alabama Crimson Tide having the No. 1 seed)

It is interesting. So far, Texas Tech is tied for the most wins of all the teams listed here. Now, that doesn’t guarantee success, but it’s worth noting that the Red Raiders are just one of two teams to have more than 50 wins so far. Grand Canyon is the other, tied with Tech at 52 (though the Red Raiders have a couple fewer losses).
Alabama isn’t that far off at 49. Same with Florida State at 49. And then there’s teams like the Oklahoma Sooners, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Florida Gators who are pretty close as well.
Looking around the country, the SEC was able to send 12 teams to the tournament, the ACC is sending eight, and then the Big 12 and Big Ten are each sending seven teams. The other Big 12 teams to make the tournament were the Baylor Bears, Arizona Wildcats, UCF Knights, Oklahoma State Cowgirls, Arizona State Sun Devils, and Kansas Jayhawks.
