The Texas Tech Red Raiders ended the first half up 47 to nothing.
They dominated in all three aspects of the game. Texas Tech didn’t make any sort of mistakes on offense, the defense completely shut the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions down, and special teams even got involved by kicking a couple of field goals and blocking a punt.
Joey McGuire and his coaching staff have to be thrilled to see just how good Texas Tech looks in this game. This is exactly what the Red Raiders need to be doing when they’re far more talented than their opponent.
3 impressive stats from Texas Tech as the Red Raiders dominated the 1st half against Arkansas-Pine Bluff
- Texas Tech’s perfect execution on scoring with each drive: The Red Raiders had no issue scoring the ball and on each and every drive, we got to see Texas Tech end up putting points on the board in the first half. There were eight drives in the first half and there were eight scores. Six touchdowns and two field goals. That’s great to see.
- The Red Raiders not having any negative plays on the ground: I, for one, greatly appreciate how Texas Tech simply refused to make any sort of mistakes or negative plays happen while running the ball. The Red Raiders managed to average 8.1 yards per carry as Cameron Dickey and J’Koby Williams combined for 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns. And they simply didn’t have any yards lost on the ground. That’s impressive.
- Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s offense simply didn’t get going all that much: The Golden Lions gained a grand total of 52 yards. 52. That’s not good for them, but it’s very good for the Texas Tech Red Raider defense. I know Shiel Wood has mentioned that he doesn’t care about stats and all that jazz, but this is still such an impressive thing.
The Red Raiders have the perfect opportunity to secure a dominant, one-sided win to get this season started. So far, they’ve taken advantage of that opportunity. Now it’ll be great to see if they can continue to steamroll right over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the shortened second half.
