Well, uh. Texas Tech is down 6-0. And honestly, it feels like it could be a much wider margin. The Ducks have elected to go on fourth down a couple of occasions instead of taking field goals and it really feels like the Red Raiders are on borrowed time right now unless they’re able to get something to go in their favor.
So much of the first half was an absolute mess and there are a handful of indicators of how this could really go wrong for Texas Tech in the second half unless something changes in a hurry. Like the fact that Texas Tech has run 23 plays on offense while the Ducks have run 49.
There are a few other concerning stats though. Here are three stats that make me really worried for Texas Tech.
The Red Raiders have gotten just six complete passes from Behren Morton, which is bad
Texas Tech’s offense is struggling against Oregon’s defense. That’s abundantly clear and evidenced by the fact that the Red Raiders have yet to put a single point on the board. But arguably the most alarming part of this is the fact that Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton is struggling as much as he is. He seems completely and totally lost against Oregon’s defense.

Morton has completed just 6-of-12 passes for a grand total of 37 yards. The Red Raider quarterback has already tossed one interception. With how much Texas Tech relies on its passing attack, this is a huge concern.
Meanwhile, Oregon quarterback Dante Moore is completing 81 percent of his passes in the first half, which is frightening
While Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton is struggling to get anything going (and has managed to already throw one interception against the Ducks defense), Oregon quarterback Dante Moore doesn’t seem to be having any sorts of issues against Texas Tech’s defense.

Moore has completed 22-of-27 passes for 192 yards. That’s in just one half. That’s a problem for the Red Raiders.
The fact that Oregon has converted 3-of-5 on fourth downs is a little alarming
Okay, so let’s get away from the quarterback comparisons for a second. The Texas Tech Red Raiders are having a hard time stopping the Ducks in this game. Oregon has been able to get several explosive plays on the day, but what’s more worrying than that is the fact that the Ducks have been able to sustain drives against the Red Raiders defense.
Texas Tech has managed to stop Oregon on a few different third downs, but the Red Raiders are having a hard time halting Oregon’s drives on fourth down. The Ducks have converted on 3-of-5 of their fourth down attempts, which is actually really impressive.
And it could be a big problem for Texas Tech if this continues.
