Getting a 60-point win is a good thing, I believe. It’s a good thing to see the Texas Tech Red Raiders score 67 points while their opponent scores just seven points. It’s a good thing to see Texas Tech have no issues moving the ball on offense while the Red Raiders’ defense causes massive issues for the opposing defense.
All of that is a good thing. But with the win, I have questions. So much of my questions has to do with if this is sustainable and if we’ll be able to continuously see these sorts of showings from the Red Raiders. Because that’s what I’d like to see. Consistent and dominant wins.
Is that too much to ask for?
How serious is Behren Morton’s injury?
Maybe I’m just worried about this for no good reason. Maybe I’m fixating on the fact that Morton has suffered a few too many injuries in his career as the starting quarterback for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Maybe I just want to see Morton be able to play a season all the way through and not have any issues and not get sidelined with injury problems.
I just would like to know how big of a deal Morton’s injury happens to be. Maybe it’s nothing. I hope it’s nothing. I just didn’t like seeing him leave the game after getting hit in the leg like he did. I guess we’ll see if this has any downstream impacts for the Red Raiders.
Will Shiel Wood’s defense play like this every week?
I know the answer is that the Red Raiders defense probably won’t be able to perform like this from a statistics standpoint, but I would love to know if the Red Raiders will be able to put forth enough of an effort to, on some sort of regular basis, disrupt the opposing offense as much as they did in this game.
Maybe they will? I hope they will. I loved seeing the way Wood’s defense was able to cause headaches for Arkansas-Pine Bluff. I’d love to see that sort of effort and energy carry over to Big 12 opponents as well.
Is this the start to a truly great season for Texas Tech?
Okay, look, too early to tell. Too weak of an opponent to tell. But man, this felt like such a great way to get this season started. I mean, McGuire and the Red Raiders should truly be proud of the way this game went. It was such a better sort of showing for Texas Tech than what we got to witness from the Red Raiders last season against Abilene Christian.
Let’s have that continue, shall we? Can we keep this going? Is that too much to ask? Is it too much to ask for 10 or more wins this year? We’ll find out sooner or later, I suppose.
