Right now, the Texas Tech Red Raiders are 34-2 and rolling. The Red Raiders haven’t had many issues going out and getting wins against most foes and that certainly includes the Iowa State Cyclones, the latest opponent to get crushed by the Texas Tech softball team.

Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech softball team have been winning and they look good. And that should continue, but I still have a few questions.

So, let's start asking them.

No. 1: Can Texas Tech continue to take advantage of its pitching depth down the stretch of the season?

One of the biggest issues I think Texas Tech ran into as the season came to a conclusion last year is the way the Red Raiders had to rely so heavily upon NiJaree Canady. That isn’t the case anymore and we saw that very clearly against the Iowa State Cyclones.

With Kaitlyn Terry and Samantha Lincoln showing up and dominating in quick fashion via complete games shortened by mercy rule wins, it feels like the Red Raiders are in a great position right now. Can Texas Tech continue to take advantage of that when facing tougher teams than Iowa State in games with bigger stakes?

No. 2: Will the Red Raiders continue to play error-free softball when it matters most?

Entering this series, the Texas Tech softball team managed to commit just 19 errors on the season. That’s the best such mark in the Big 12 right now. After not committing a single turnover against the Cyclones, that season total still sits at 19 right now.

And it’s something to brag about and enjoy. But will that continue to hold up in bigger games on bigger stages?

No. 3: Is there another true test left on the schedule for the Texas Tech softball team?

That matchup with the Arizona Wildcats was pretty tough, all things considered. At least it was relatively speaking. Texas Tech started the series by getting run-ruled. The Red Raiders then run-ruled the Wildcats twice to get a little bit of vengeance.

And Arizona is a legitimately good team with a ton of talent all over the field. Is there anyone like that left up ahead for the Red Raiders? It certainly wasn’t Iowa State.
