Three games, three easy wins for Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech Red Radiers. The Texas Tech softball team was able to host the Iowa State Cyclones and then promptly handed Iowa State three straight lopsided losses.

Here’s a few stats that go a little into how the Red Raiders managed to secure such a lopsided series sweep over the Iowa State Cyclones over the weekend.

No. 1: Jackie Lis somehow managed to rack up an .857 batting average of the three-game series, which is insane and impressive

In just three games, Jackie Lis managed to get on base 10 times. What all does that include? Well, in Game 1, Lis managed to draw a couple of walks in Game 1, she got a single and then another walk in Game 2, and then managed to go 3-for-4 in Game 3.

In total, Lis hit a couple of home runs over the weekend and drove in a total of 5 RBIs. Oh! And she drew a total of four walks. That’s a lot.

No. 2: Even though Texas Tech played just 15 innings, the Red Raiders managed to make the most of it via scoring 2.4 runs per inning

Okay, look, any time you can score 2.4 runs per inning, you absolutely must do exactly that. Across the three games that the Texas Tech softball team just took away from the Iowa State Cyclones, the Red Raiders managed to score 2.4 runs per inning.

In total, Texas Tech scored 36 runs over the weekend. That includes nine runs on eight hits in Game 1, 10 runs on 12 hits in Game 2, and then 17 runs on 14 hits in Game 3. In total, that’s 34 hits and 15 walks across the entirety of the series.

No. 3: And it’s important to remember that all three of these games ended via the 8-run mercy rule

In case you just needed a brief reminder that the Red Raiders were far better than the Cyclones this past weekend, it’s good to remember that the Red Raiders were able to absolutely steamroll right over the Iowa State softball team.

All three of those games against the Cyclones ended in a mercy rule that prevented Texas Tech from playing even innings in each of these games. It also demonstrated just how good Texas Tech might be this season.
