With Texas Tech able to take control of this game (and score seemingly at will when facing the West Virginia Mountaineers) the Red Raiders really look like the best team in the Big 12 at the moment. Of course, West Virginia is among the worst in the conference, but it really is impressive to see how Texas Tech has been able to crush the Mountaineers in the first half while on the road.

Here are three stats from the first half that showcases Texas Tech’s absolute dominance in the first half against the West Virginia Mountaineers.

No. 1: the absolutely remarkable yardage advantage that Texas Tech has over West Virginia

The Red Raiders have complete and total control over this game right now and there’s a number of stats that you could point to for that. The most obvious though, aside from the scoreboard, is the yardage that both of these teams have gained.

West Virginia has just 114 total yards of offense from the first half. Meanwhile, Texas Tech has produced 351 yards of total offense here. The Red Raiders are rolling to the tune of 6.2 yards per play while West Virginia is being held to just 3.8 yards per play.

No. 2: Texas Tech isn’t really being stopped by West Virginia’s defense all that often

While the West Virginia defense might be able to get Texas Tech’s offense into third down situations, the Red Raiders have rarely been stopped today. Texas Tech has been just about unstoppable on offense (though the Red Raiders are not perfect) and this offense has converted on 9-of-12 third down attempts.

That’s just flat out impressive. Converting on 75 percent of third-down attempts is really something to celebrate, but it’s certainly even more impressive when you compare it to the fact that West Virginia converted exactly 0-of-6 third down attempts in the first half.

No. 3: Terrance Carter Jr. has been incredible and dangerous and also incredibly dangerous for Texas Tech’s offense

The Red Raiders are doing a great job of spreading the ball around on offense, but Terrance Carter Jr. has been a consistently dangerous pass catching option for the Texas Tech offense. Behren Morton has done well in getting the ball out to him.

In the first half alone, Carter has managed to haul in 10 of 12 passes that have been hurled his way and he’s racked up 98 receiving yards in the process.

Texas Tech is thriving while on the road. The Red Raiders truly look like one of the best and most efficient (and also most effective) teams in the country right now. That’s great to see.
