The Baylor Bears weren’t able to do too much Thursday evening. I mean, their pitching performance started out pretty solid and the Bears did a shockingly impressive job of limiting a Texas Tech Red Raiders lineup that typically punishes people left and right.
But, the Red Raiders were able to get some timely hitting and some impressive pitching of their own that led to the 5-0 shutout victory over the Bears, getting Texas Tech that much closer to securing its 50th win of the regular season.
The whole victory on Thursday night was a collective team effort, but there were a few players who truly stood out. One dominated in the circle, one launched a three run shot, and one just consistently got on base for the Red Raiders.
These 3 Texas Tech Red Raiders made the Baylor Bears very miserable in TTU’s 5-0 shutout win on Thursday
Kaitlyn Terry was remarkable in her performance in the circle as she managed to throw a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit and one walk along the way. Terry struck out nine opposing batters and managed to really limit Baylor’s attempts at accomplishing anything. Terry is now 21-1 on the season and improved upon an already impressive ERA.
Jasmyn Burns managed to get a timely hit. After getting subbed out early on, Burns stepped back in and hammered a pinch hit three-run home run in the bottom of the 6th inning. That home run turned a 2-0 game that was closer than I was comfortable with and made it into a 5-0 game that made it clear that Baylor had no shot at winning.
And then there’s Mia Williams, who managed to go 2-for-2 with both of those hits being doubles, and then managed to score two runs (including being one of the runs batted in with that three-run shot in the 6th by Burns). Williams’ success in getting on base helped set the Red Raiders’ up for success on the scoreboard.
