When the Texas Tech baseball team went to Fort Worth, the Red Raiders were presented with the opportunity to get a series win and continue building upon the momentum they had. Unfortunately, that isn’t at all what happened for Tim Tadlock and the Red Raiders.

Across three games, Texas Tech was outscored 33-21. The Red Raiders just simply couldn’t keep up with a TCU team that really didn’t seem all that impressive prior to this weekend.

And yet, TCU had no issue going out and giving the Red Raiders a frustrating experience in Fort Worth. Now, I have a few questions.

No. 1: Can the Red Raiders survive this season if their bats go cold for any stretch of time?

So much of the issue that Texas Tech is navigating has to do with the way the pitching staff looks right now. The Red Raiders have a team ERA of 7.55. Over the weekend, Texas Tech allowed 11 runs per game.

That’s horrendous.

While the Red Raiders are great at the plate on the season, it feels like Texas Tech has to score a dozen runs or so per game to be able to win any game at all.

And that’s not a good feeling!

Texas Tech has a .356 batting average and the Red Raiders have been able to get some wins because they’ve just simply been able to outhit their opponents regularly. But what happens when the bats aren’t getting contact? Can Texas Tech survive this season?

No. 2: Are Tim Tadlock and Texas Tech capable of winning when traveling away from Lubbock this season?

So far this season, the Red Raiders have managed to go 13-3 at home, which is impressive! That’s great! It’s something worth celebrating! But it’s a little worrisome that Texas Tech can’t seem to get any sort of wins if they’re on the road or in a neutral site match up.

Texas Tech is 3-5 in true road games and then happens to be 0-3 in neutral site games.

Unfortunately, Texas Tech doesn’t have the option to just play all of its remaining games in Lubbock.

No. 3: Will this series be a turning point for Texas Tech or will things start to spiral for the Red Raiders?

Tadlock and the REd Raiders have got to figure out how to respond to this one. Is this the sort of series that the Texas Tech baseball team will be able to use as motivation to get back on track? Or is this going to be the sort of series where things really start spiralling?

Abilene Christian will be in town on Tuesday and then Texas Tech gets the chance to meet up with the Houston Cougars, who are the worst team in the Big 12. But the Red Raiders really need to use those games as an opportunity to bounce back and get back on track. Otherwise things could get messy.
