I don’t think I can say enough about how impressive the Tennessee Lady Vols looked against the Florida Gators. It truly was remarkable stuff in the way that Tennessee jumped out to a dominant lead over their rival and in the way that the Lady Vols kept Florida from ever having a real chance at clawing back into the game.
It was over in a hurry as Florida was sent home due to a mercy rule beating. Now, Tennessee is looking to stay alive, face more foes, and send other teams home. Could that result in Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech Red Raiders facing off against the Lady Vols?
Well… Yeah… There’s a chance that happens. And I, for one, don’t love the thought of that.
Even with the dominant win over the Florida Gators, Tennessee is still stuck in the elimination bracket. However, a new team is about to join Tennessee in that bracket.
Tennessee Lady Vols primed to face off against either Texas Tech or the UCLA Bruins
When the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the UCLA Bruins meet up, the winner will get to hang out in the winner’s bracket and avoid being jammed into stressful situations. But a loss? Well. I mean. A loss puts either the Red Raiders or the Bruins in position to face Tennessee. And again, I don’t know exactly how I feel about that.
If it’s Texas Tech that Tennessee ends up getting, the Lady Vols would be tasked with facing a team that has 50 wins, dominated the Big 12, and has one of the most remarkable pitchers in the country in NiJaree Canady.
All that said, if Tennessee gets caught up and falls short against either the Bruins or Red Raiders, then we’d see another prominent team that could cause problems for Texas Tech step into that space. The intensity of the elimination will continue to go up, I’m sure.
