The Oregon Ducks are still alive in the 2025 Women’s College World Series. They haven’t been sent home yet. Sure, they do have a loss after coming up short against the UCLA Bruins in their first game in OKC this season, but that doesn’t mean they’re eliminated yet.

No, the Oregon Ducks softball team will need to be beaten a second time in order for the Ducks to get sent packing. Right now, it looks like Oregon is certainly committed to making things difficult for the teams that want to send the Ducks home.

Oregon’s first victim of elimination was the Ole Miss Rebels in a 6-5 extra inning win. The Rebels have officially lost two games in OKC and they’re now done for the year. Oh! It’s also worth bringing up how even though Oregon managed to get a win while in the elimination bracket, the Ducks are also still facing the possibility of elimination.

If Oregon loses one more time prior to the Women’s College World Series championship series, then we’re going to see them head home the same way that Ole Miss just packed up and left.

Of course, there is also a chance that Oregon can send someone else packing.

Oregon Ducks survive elimination game against Ole Miss Rebels, set to face either Oklahoma Sooners or Texas Longhorns

In fact, the loser of the matchup between the old Big 12 teams that are now in the SEC will get the distinct pleasure of facing off against Oregon.

Oregon managed to hit a hot streak at the time that it needed to and was also able to weather the storm that was the 2025 Ole Miss softball team. This is a softball team that can’t be overlooked at all, otherwise there might be a few surprises for whichever team plays the Ducks next, whether that’s the Oklahoma Sooners or the Texas Longhorns.

Right now, Texas and Oklahoma are resting and preparing for their game against one another and probably not worrying too much about how the Women’s College World Series will play out. But the Oregon Ducks, on the other hand, sure seem intent on causing problems for anyone and everyone moving forward.
