The College Football Playoff gets started on Friday and I’m sure just about everyone except Alabama football fans are ready to see how this one will go. Why don’t I think Alabama fans are thrilled about this matchup?
Well, it’s against Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma Sooners really know how to haunt the Alabama Crimson Tide and it’s such an absolutely fascinating matchup between these two teams. It’s going to be truly interesting to see the Crimson Tide and the Sooners face off once again this season.
Because there’s a chance that Kalen DeBoer and Alabama will suffer yet another loss to Oklahoma, which would be their third in just two seasons if that were to happen.
What do Texas Tech fans need to know about the Alabama Crimson Tide ahead of the start of the 2025-2026 College Football Playoff?
Let’s go ahead and take a quick glimpse at Alabama ahead of the Crimson Tide’s matchup with the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman:
- Head coach: Kalen DeBoer
- Conference: SEC
- Location: Tuscaloosa, Alabama
- Stadium: Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium
- 2025 record: 10-3 overall, 7-1 SEC
This season has been a truly bizarre rollercoaster of sorts for DeBoer and the Crimson Tide. I’m sure Alabama fans have experienced just about every sort of up and down and twist and turn imaginable for this one.
It started out with a shocking road loss to a Florida State team that, at the time, seemed like it might be significantly better than what it’d been a season ago. And yet, FSU is actually still dreadful. Which makes that early season loss to the Seminoles that much more alarming for the Crimson Tide.
From there, Alabama went on to roll over most of its conference foes, beating the likes of the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs, No. 16 Vanderbilt Commodores, No. 14 Missouri Tigers, and No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers.
Alabama also managed to suffer a couple of other deflating losses along the way. One against the Oklahoma Sooners (who they now have to face in the College Football Playoff). The other against the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game.
Offensively, this is a team that Kalen DeBoer probably isn’t thrilled about. Alabama isn’t even getting to 400 yards of offense per game. On defense though? The Crimson Tide is holding its opponents to 283.3 total yards of offense per game.
This game is sure to be low scoring, right? I mean, OU doesn’t have a great offense either and the Sooners do also have a great defense. We’ll see soon enough.
