It really looks like things are going Texas Tech’s way right now. The Red Raiders are 11-1 overall, 8-1 when facing Big 12 teams, and are set to make the Big 12 championship game for the first time in program history.
That’s huge and it really seems like Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders might be able to make some rather significant noise in the College Football Playoff, as long as the Texas Tech football team gets there without any hiccups along the way, that is.
And it seems like that’s certainly doable for McGuire and his Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Big 12 championship game in Arlington, Texas is going to set the Red Raiders up with the BYU Cougars, a team that Texas Tech has already beaten by 22 points this season.
So as long as Texas Tech takes care of business on Saturday, we’ll get a chance to see the Red Raiders make the College Football Playoff and also get a 1st round bye to get things started.
College Football Playoff projection from Athlon Sports places Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a matchup with Oregon
Right now, it sounds like that’s more or less what the folks over at Athlon Sports are expecting from Texas Tech when the Red Raiders get their rematch with the BYU Cougars.
In their most recent College Football Playoff and bowl season projections following the Week 14 fun, Athlon Sports is putting the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a No. 4 vs. No. 5 quarterfinals matchup with the Oregon Ducks.
And Texas Tech is the team listed as the No. 4 team.
Now, that is as far as this set of projections has the Red Raiders going. Apparently they’ve got the Ducks advancing on, for one reason or another, and meeting up with the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Semifinals in the Fiesta Bowl.
