With the way that Behren Morton performed and the stats that he managed to put up in Texas Tech’s lopsided road win over the West Virginia Mountaineers, I could have easily been convinced that he was fully healthy.

The starting quarterback for the Red Raiders has been dinged up at various times throughout the season and he’s missed chunks of playing time throughout his career. However, against the West Virginia Mountaineers defense in Morgantown, West Virginia, Morton had no issue moving the Red Raiders offense up and down the field.

Morton made the most of his time on the field and had no problems setting Texas Tech up for success as he really didn’t do anything in the second half. But the starting QB for the Red Raiders really did well to put Texas Tech off to a great start in this matchup.

Texas Tech Red Raiders quarterback Behren Morton had no issue carving up West Virginia’s defense in dominant win

In this matchup, Morton completed 25 of his 32 pass attempts (which equals out to just over 78 percent) for 310 passing yards and three touchdown passes. All of that adds up to being 9.6 yards per attempt and 13.2 yards per completion.

Morton was great in this game (though he did get sacked a small handful of times, which is something I’d like to see cleaned up sooner rather than later given some of his injury history).

While he was on the field, Morton managed to spread the ball around, getting a number of receivers active in the passing game, but he did manage to connect with Caleb Douglas for two touchdown passes and Terrance Carter Jr. for a total of 10 receptions for 98 yards in this matchup.

It’s great seeing Morton back on the field and it’s really starting to feel like his presence makes this offense operate at a completely different level. It’s a shame he’s been dinged up at times and it’s a shame that his time with the Red Raiders is coming to an end at the conclusion of this season.
